1899 Service Cord Program

1899 Service Cord Program

About

In 1899, Tarleton State College opened its doors because of a generous donation made by our founder, John Tarleton.  To honor his legacy of generosity and service, “The 1899 Cord Project” was created by Tarleton Serves, a student-led organization, overseen by the Center of Leadership, Service and Outreach.  This program is designed to encourage Tarleton students to serve their surrounding communities and honor them for their contributions.  In order to receive the 1899 Cord, students must record 189.9 community service hours at least 30 days prior to their graduation date.

Students dedicating their time and effort to help people and the environment through community service is the cornerstone of this initiative.  The 1899 Cord Program is available to all Tarleton Students REGARDLESS of campus location.

Participants please take a look at the 1899 Service Cord Program Guidelines as the guidelines have been updated.
